Hi! I’m about to head to Korea University for a year. I’ve been looking for student housing, where did you stay? Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks a lot for sharing parts of your experience!

Take care!

Hi Suzanne,

I’d be happy to give you some recommendations and tell you about where I stayed and where my friends stayed also! However, I’m in Rome right now and flying back to the states in the morning. I’ll email you on Saturday and tell you all about housing in Seoul.

It depends on where you’re going to school in Seoul. If you’re going to Korea University, there is the CJ International House where most of my friends stayed. You’ll have to sign up pretty quickly though because spots fill up fast. I think there is a curfew maybe, but the facilities are nice and they have a kitchen. There are also other options provided by the university. http://www.korea.edu/ , go to Life at campus, and then accommodations. For Korea University, there is also the Crimson House nearby the school. This is where I stayed. It’s actually right across the street from the main gate so that’s easy. No kitchen, rules are more loose than University housing. Pretty safe, lots of KU students stay there. I would recommend Crimson House over CJ, but I’ve never stayed at CJ.

For Yonsei, the housing is also nice (I’ve visited but never stayed). They have the International House and the Global House. http://www.yonsei.ac.kr/eng/campus/housing/

Generally, if you stay in one of the international houses at these schools, you’ll meet more international students and students in general than if you were to stay off campus. However, if you think you can meet people just fine, then you might be able to save some money living elsewhere.

Let me know if you have more questions.
